Why is it so difficult to get a loved one to stop abusing drugs and alcohol? What can a parent do in advance to prevent serious problems? This workshop is being offered for family members and others who are concerned about a loved one?s substance use. Attendees will learn new ways of interacting with a loved one regarding their use of substances. Attendees will hear a personal story of addiction and recovery; learn what to avoid when talking with a loved one who abuses drugs or alcohol; and connect with helpful resources for intervention and treatment. The speaker is David Lee (CCDC, CADC, CIS), co-founder of Intervention Services and Technologies. David Lee is the founder of Indiana-based Intervention Services and Technologies, Inc., the largest intervention service provider in North America. Lee has more than 10 years of experience in interventions, addiction counseling, family systems and recovery. His professional background includes development of the S.M.A.R.T. model of interventions, CEO of Sober Solutions, Inc., and Program Developer and Director of a program named ?A Forever Recovery? in Battle Creek, Michigan.
