SUMMARY:Classics and Jazz - "Isn't It Romantic"
DESCRIPTION:Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our Symphony La Carte event. We already have another exciting musical event for you approaching quickly! Our annual "Classics and Jazz" program features the riveting Symphony No. 2 "Romantic" by Howard Hanson as well as a collection of romantic jazz standards. Hanson's Second Symphony was composed for the 50th anniversary of the Boston Pops. The theme has been used in movies such as "Alien" as well as serving as the inspiration for John Williams amazing score to "E.T" As critics said at the time Hanson "produced a popular concert work which is the epitome of the twentieth-century symphony that could have been written by an American." The LCSO will also showcase our diverse range as we treat you and yours to a set of jazz standards of romance songs from the great American songbook. The tunes are arranged by none other than saxophonist Ivan Arden who has been a featured LCSO artist in years past.\n\nWe hope you'll join us on 4/12 at 7:30 pm at the wonderful James Lumber Center For The Performing Arts at The College of Lake County.
