SUMMARY:LAKE FOREST CIVIC ORCHESTRA CELEBRATES AMERICAN COMPOSERS
DESCRIPTION:The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is excited to present its final concert of the 2016/17 season "Made in the USA" on Sunday\, May 21\, 2017 at 4:00pm. The performance will be held in the John and Nancy Hughes Theatre at the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest\, IL (400 E. Illinois Road). In time for Memorial Day\, the concert highlights music written by American composers from the early 1900s to present day. One work of interest is Printemps for Spring composed by Lake Forest's own Jim Stephenson\, who has quickly become recognized throughout the United States and around the world for his original works and arrangements. The concert also features violinist Robert Sanders\, the 2016 Midwest Young Artists Walgreens Competition winner\, playing the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-Saens. Robert is currently a senior at Niles North High School in Skokie and will be studying violin performance at the Eastman School of Music. Additional works to be performed at the concert include Black Cascades (Zlatkin)\, Darker America (1925) (Still)\, and Appalachian Spring (Copland). Tickets are available online at www.lakeforestcivicorchestra.org or at the door prior to the concert. Please join Our Community Orchestra for its last concert of the season!
