Food and drink will be served and all are welcome!: ABOUT: With recent shows in New Delhi and New York\, Chandrika Marla returns home to Chicagoland with a stunning new exhibition of female mystery\, celebration and reflection. The paintings in PARTS OF HER PUZZLE reflect the vibrant colors\, soft-to-hard edges and complex layers of womanhood. Each painting is one piece of the universal puzzle\; they can stand alone or be grouped to reveal new connections between them. Marla brings a diverse background in Fashion Design and English Literature to her artwork. Modern and color-infused interpretations of female torsos and other body parts are reflected in multi-layered works in both literal and figurative senses. It is not uncommon for Marla to apply up to 30 layers of colored pigments to create resonating edges around her forms and canvases. These edges seem to shimmer softly and deeply from afar - only to reveal distinct and defined layers upon closer scrutiny.
