The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society presents an opportunity to enjoy one of the most elegant estates on the North Shore, Innisfail I. The event will be on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Details will be provided upon receipt of reservation.
The house was designed by Henry Corwith Dangler and David Adler in 1915 and was the first of two homes they designed for Joseph M.Cudahy, President of Cudahy Packing Company and Sinclair Refining Company and his wife, Jean Morton. The house is “based on the neo-classicism of Louis XVI French country house.”
The house was originally resplendent on over 40 acres, with a service court, swimming pool and tennis courts. The grounds were a perfect spot for the dog and pony shows held for children in the 1920s to raise money for charity. The exterior is refined elegance, with plaster garlands adorning long rectangular windows. Detailed ironwork embellishes the front door, staircase, interior windows and doors to the garden room.
Join us for cocktails and light appetizers at this magnificent home. Sonja Kessebaum will be providing a sample cocktail from the 1960s era, courtesy of North Shore Distillery, and wine will be provided. Tickets are $25 for Historical Society members, $45 for nonmembers. Advance reservations are required. Tickets may be purchased at www.lflbhistory.org or at 847-234-5253.
