Special Appearances Include Emmy and Tony Award Winning Actor David Hyde Pierce
Highland Park, IL – Midwest Young Artists (MYA) announces it will host its Seventh Annual Benefit Gala, “Discover MYA,” at 6 p.m. CT on April 14, 2012 at the Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Illinois. The benefit will showcase MYA’s work with young musicians of diverse backgrounds and will serve as a time to celebrate the accomplishments of these students during the past year. Individuals and corporations who also have helped to make it all possible will be recognized during the event.
The memorable night will include musical performances from MYA students, the MYA Big Band, student chamber music ensembles, VX studio vocal ensemble and appearances by honorees John Bruce Yeh of the Chicago Symphony and Discover Financial Services representatives. Additionally, David Hyde Pierce, an Emmy and Tony award winning actor and pianist, will make a special appearance to perform a piece from Spamalot, with the VX singers.
MYA also will honor John Bruce Yeh, assistant principal clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with its “Take Note” award, for his continued support of MYA. Mr. Yeh will perform with the MYA Symphony Orchestra on April 29th at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. Discover Financial Services will receive the Golden Baton Award for its enduring sponsorship of the annual MYA Discover National Chamber Music Competition and its continued support of MYA throughout the years.
Several live and silent auctions will also take place, offering gala attendees a wide variety of fine and rare wines, desirable luxury packages, artwork and autographed sports memorabilia.
