The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is excited to present its second concert of the season “Salute to Veterans” on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 4:00pm. We invite all veterans and their immediate family members to attend free of charge as our honored guests. Veterans and active service members can sign up for free tickets to this concert at vettix.org. The performance will be held in the John and Nancy Hughes Theatre at the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest, IL (400 E. Illinois Road). In remembrance of the 100th anniversary of World War I, and celebrating the 200th anniversary of Illinois statehood, the concert highlights beloved favorites, including Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever, and Vaughan Williams’ hauntingly magnificent Symphony No. 3, which he wrote following his service in the Great War. Soprano Erika Morrison will be our featured guest performer, and the concert will be conducted by Co-Music Director Robert Nordling. We at the LFCO are a group of professional and non-professional members of the community, who come together to provide high-quality musical experiences that reinvigorate the human spirit. We are pleased to have a number of veterans and spouses in our own membership. Tickets are available online at www.lakeforestcivicorchestra.org or at the door prior to the concert. Please join Your Community Orchestra this Veterans Day!
