St. Patrick Church in Lake Forest hosting a historical stained glass windows restoration and history event. St. Patrick Church is the oldest Catholic church in Lake Forest and one of the oldest in the Chicago Archdiocese founded in 1849 by many of the original settlers of Lake Forest and the surrounding communities. The current church structure was built in 1909 and dedicated in 1910. Each stained glass window was donated by a member of the church, many were the founding families of Lake Forest and the surrounding area. Names such as Bradley, O’Connor, Dawson, Doyle, Redmond, Atkinson, Kennedy, Lancaster, Meehan, and Yore adorn each window. St. Patrick’s recently completed the restoration of each stained glass window. There will be an Open House Event on September 25th, 2016 from 12:30pm – 2:30pm in the old church. We will be providing a booklet that chronicles the history of the church and community along with a narrative of the families that donated each window. Attendees can tour the church, view the restored stained glass and read about historical facts and anecdotes about the names on each window. There will be descendants of the founding families that donated the windows in attendance. Members of the O’Connor’s, Bradley, Dawson, Redmond, Kennedy, and Yore families will be present to commemorate the restoration of these historical treasures. It’s a celebration of St. Patrick Church and Lake Forest history.
