A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum is a legendary show from the Golden Age of Broadway and was a winner of 5 Tony Awards ®, including Best Musical and Best Author, in 1963. This comedy, based on farces by the Roman author Plautus, has figured prominently in the careers of Broadway actors Zero Mostel, Whoopi Goldberg and Nathan Lane ? all three of whom have played the lead character, a quick-thinking slave named Pseudolus. In the show ancient Rome is irreverently set aflame as Pseudolus attempts to win his freedom in a matchmaking scheme. Forum is a vaudevillian farce of Grecian slaves, soldiers, and whores. Robert D Estrin, former drama director at New Trier High School, returns to Citadel Theatre where he has successfully helmed many of the company?s most popular productions including Don?t Dress for Dinner, Cabaret, and Lend Me a Tenor. A live band, directed by Randy Casey will supply the memorable soundtrack and Jennifer Cupani will serve as choreographer. The play stars Tim Walsh as Pseudolus with Mark Anderson, Angela Carrington, Bill Chamberlain, Jacob Fjare, Margaret Garofalo, Jeff Geddes, Geoff Isaac, Coco Kasperowicz, Adam Kasprowicz, Sharisse Manning, Sam Martin, Rachel Meloan, Chase Peacock, Carmen Risi, Alison Stake and Jack Daniel Wright. Also taking the stage is Citadel Theatre co-founder and Board President Ellen Phelps.
