Description
Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artist retreat in Lake Forest, continues its monthly Ragdale Ring Performance Series on Thursday, August 10 at 7pm with Composing the Moment: Danced Improvisation. This performance features improvising dance artists who represent several distinct dance disciplines and lineages from post-modern dance to urban street forms.
Participating artists include Jessica Ray, creating abstract movement forms, tap dancer Jumaane Taylor, experimental performer Anna Martine Whitehead, and THE ERA, a Chicago-based footwork crew. The performance is curated by dancer/choreographer Ginger Farley, Executive Director of Chicago Dancemakers Forum.
The Ragdale Ring series presents one-of-a-kind programs curated by Ragdale resident artists in cooperation with their creative colleagues. All events take place in the open-air Ring installation, whose “Living Picture” design by T+E+A+M was recently chosen in an international competition for outstanding, young architects. Guests are encouraged to bring their family, a lawn chair, or picnic for these arts-filled outdoor performances.
The final Ring performance can be enjoyed by the whole family – an interactive Persephone Pageant which blends storytelling, music, movement and visual elements on Saturday, September 16 at 4pm.
