Description
A Safe Place, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services, programs, and resources to empower and transform the lives of victims of domestic violence and their children is hosting its 16th annual “Drive Out Domestic Violence” golf outing on Monday, August 13 at Briarwood Country Club in Deerfield.
The event, which raises much needed funds for the agency’s lifesaving work, includes a luncheon, raffle, on-course events, live auction, dinner, and cocktails. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m.
“Our golf outing is a way for dedicated, long-time supporters to enjoy a day outside having fun and giving back with us and is also a chance for new friends to get acquainted with us and learn about what we are doing to eliminate domestic violence in all of our communities,” said A Safe Place Chief Executive Officer, Pat Davenport. “One out of every three women and one out of every seven men – over 88,000 of our neighbors – will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Only through staying visible will we stop the spread of domestic violence.”
As Lake County’s only provider of services solely dedicated to domestic violence, A Safe Place provides 24-hour crisis support, emergency shelter, affordable housing, court advocacy, supervised and monitored family visitations, and individual and group therapy to survivors of domestic violence and their children; educational programs for the community; and intervention services for abusers to learn accountability for their choices and actions. Last year, A Safe Place served more than 14,000 adults and children in the Chicagoland area and Wisconsin.
Corporate and individual sponsorships are available and registration is open for individuals or foursomes. Donations are welcomed and appreciated. Contact Carmen Patlan, Chief Development Officer, at cpatlan@asafeplaceforhelp.org or (847) 731-7165 ext. 109.
