A successful NonProfit Organization requires strong and effective leadership from the Board of Directors. However , allit takes is on toxic, underperforming Board Member to derail all of the efforts put forth by the rest of the Board. If a Board Member is not engage or contributing to the greater good of the organization, it may be time to gently nudge the board member to step down orin an extreme case termination. Yes, volunteers can be terminated. Even if you have not experienced the need to fire a Board Member, understanding the process and an alternative approach will benefit you and your Board in the future if a situation should arise . This session will outline when it is appropriate to fire a Board Member, the process to follow when terminating a Board Member, and alternative ways to avoid the dreaded task of stating "You're Fired"
The Facilitator for this Event is Dr Susan Neustrom. Susan is a SCORER Member, and her expertise is in the NonProfit Sector from leading leading several NonProfit Organization as CEO, and serving on the Board of Directors with extensive experience in change management programs, operations, staff development, capacity building, fundraising, grant writing, board development and relations, marketing, and communication. Her expertise is in Fund Raising. Susan is a positive psychology coach and certified in Whole Being positive psychology. She coaches, trains, and speaks to the human side of leadership and is dedicated to helping leaders take control of planned and unplanned change, eliminate fear, uncertainty, anxiety, and ignite self-motivation for long term success. Susan is aklso a faculty member at National Louis University, and DePaul University, and the author of "The Comfort Zone Illusion -Leaving Your Comfort Zone Is Not So Hard After All , and a collaborative author of "Finding Unshakeable Happiness".
