Description
American Legion Post 510 will observe Memorial Day in Lake Bluff at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26 with a service at the gazebo on the Village Green.
Lieutenant Colonel Stacy Flippin, Staff Judge Advocate, United States Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, Ill. is the featured speaker.
State Senator Julie Morrison, D-29 and State Representative Scott Drury, D-58 have been invited to read the Necrology. Village President Kathy O’Hara will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Lake Forest High School student Kayla Higbee will be the soloist accompanied by the LFHS School Band under the direction of Janene Kessler. Lake Bluff Scout Troop 42 will conduct the flag raising.
Marine Air Control Group 48 Firing Detail will perform a 21-gun salute to fallen comrades. LFHS buglers Timothy Walther and Tim Gersten will perform Taps and Echo. Reverend Thomas Dickelman, Minister, Community Church of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff will deliver the Invocation and Benediction.
Lake Bluff Middle School Student Council President Ursula Nugent will present the “Gettysburg Address”. Lake Bluff resident Esther Fetherolf will recite ”In Flanders Field” in honor of her father, a British officer in WWI.
Dorothy Thomas, Post Auxiliary, will serve refreshments in the Community Room of the Public Safety Building after the ceremony. Friends, families and neighbors are welcome. For more information contact Post 510 Commander David Cimarrusti at 847-234-5261.
