The Thirty-Second Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, featuring thousands of twinkling lights, will be held on Friday, November 27 in historic Market Square and on Western Avenue by the train station. This annual event, co-sponsored by the Lake Forest Bank & Trust Company and The Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation, has become a traditional gathering of family, friends and visitors to the community. The event will begin with a holiday movie being played at Gorton Community Center at 2:00p.m. There will be an Ice Sculpting performance by Art Below Zero beginning at 3:00p.m. For children and the young-at-heart, there will be a special visit from Santa Claus at 4:00p.m., and everyone can enjoy hot chocolate and donut holes provided by Lake Forest Bank & Trust Company. A caroling concert by the Lake Forest High School Choristers begins at 4:45p.m., followed by a Lake Forest Dance Academy performance beginning at 5:00p.m. The lights will be set aglow at 5:15 p.m. Western Avenue between Deerpath and Westminster will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. New to the event in 2015, the Friends of Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Foundation has partnered with local businesses in Market Square to provide a unique Passport of Retailers activity from 2:30-5:00p.m. Visit all participating local businesses and get your passport stamped in order to be entered into a drawing to win a free family VIP pass to the Annual 4th of July Festival valued at $350. A Lake County Cares Giving Tree will also be on display, allowing attendees to purchase items for deserving families. Comfort stations will be provided for the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony by United Site Services.
