Description
Calling all nature lovers, adventurers, athletes, artists and wanderers: summer camp registration is now open for Lake Forest Open Lands’ Eco-Camps! These camps offer something for everyone and help children build meaningful, personal and life-long relationships to nature and the outdoors. For some campers, this connection to nature will be formed while canoeing or fishing; for others while sitting quietly observing and drawing a bumble bee in the prairie; and for others while cooking over an open fire and sleeping under the stars. The variety of activities offered in Lake Forest Open Lands’ summer camps allows each camper to connect to nature in their own way. It also allows them to discover and explore their interests and talents while giving every child a chance to truly shine.
These ecologically-themed outdoor camps are perfect for curious children with a sense of adventure ages 4 – 13. Campers will learn about local ecosystems through exploratory activities like insect netting, invasive plant removal and catching wetland critters. Outdoor skills, like orienteering, tracking, fire building and campfire cooking, will further immerse campers in the environment. Kayaking, fort building, bike trips and overnight campouts emphasize teamwork, responsibility and independence.
The outdoors provide a unique opportunity to “explore your true nature.” For more information regarding Lake Forest Open Lands’ summer camps or to register, visit www.LFOLA.org or call 847.234.3880 x 22.
