Description
Ragdale, the historic artists’ residency in Lake Forest, continues its sixth annual Ragdale Ring Performance Series on Wednesday, July 11 at 7pm with a simmering evening of Dark Matter Jazz.
The performance features the Dark Matter String Band, led by violinist James Sanders whose music is inspired by the long history of strings in various traditions from soul music to House, Hip Hop and the Afro-Cuban “charanga.” Also performing is internationally renowned jazz percussionist and composer Kahil El'Zabar, who has collaborated with such greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, and recently toured with Dave Matthews. This performance reflects music from the Dark Matter Series at Elastic Arts in Logan Square, Chicago, and is curated by performer and puppeteer Sam Lewis.
Guests are encouraged to bring their family and friends, a lawn chair, or picnic to this outdoor performance which takes place in the 2018 Ragdale Ring, aptly entitled NOODLE SOUP. The open air garden installation was designed by Galo Cañizares and Stephanie Sang Delgado who completed a recent design/build residency at Ragdale after winning its international competition for outstanding, young architects.Ragdale is located at 1230 N.
