Description
Ragdale, the nationally acclaimed artist retreat in Lake Forest, kicks off the fourth annual Ragdale Ring Performance Series on Thursdays at 7pm – June 9, July 14 and August 18. These one-of-a-kind programs feature storytelling, dance and jazz, and are curated by Ragdale resident artists in cooperation with their creative colleagues. All events take place at Ragdale in the Ragdale Ring, the open-air performance venue, whose whimsical “Rounds” design by SPORTS was recently chosen in an international competition for outstanding young architects. Guests are encouraged to bring their family, a lawn chair or picnic to enjoy an arts-filled evening outdoors at twilight. The summer line-up is: JUNE 9 TALES FOR A SUMMER NIGHT A gathering of storytellers, poets and musicians with and without disabilities for an evening that’s summer-ripe with laughter, thoughtfulness and music. Curated by solo performer Tekki Lomnicki, Artistic Director of Tellin’ Tales Theatre. JULY 14 INTERNATIONAL DANCE EXPERIENCE Talented young dancers from the Ruth Page Civic Ballet and guest dancers from Chicago and Cuba present a mixed program of contemporary and ballet repertoire. Curated by dancer and choreographer Victor Alexander, Director of the Ruth Page School of Dance. AUG 18 JAZZ NOW An evening of original jazz compositions performed by the international, collaborative string trio Hear in Now featuring voice, violin, bass and cello. Curated by cellist and composer Tomeka Reid. Ragdale is located at 1230 N. Green Bay Road in Lake Forest.
