Ragdale’s Free High School Arts Week Returns with Performance Finale on Friday, July 19
Since 2008, Ragdale, the esteemed artists’ residency, has hosted a free week-long summer workshop to high school students from the Greater Chicago area to develop their skills in the arts in a retreat setting. This year, four modules in creative writing, poetry, visual arts, and performance will be offered beginning July 15 culminating in a free, public performance and exhibition of new work on Friday, July 19 at 2pm. Friends and family are welcome to support this dynamic display of creativity and accomplishment.
Over 40 students from 32 high schools will participate under the guidance of the distinguished faculty: Paulina Camacho, visual artist and educator; Margaret Hawkins, novelist and educator; Quraysh Ali Lansana, poet and editor; and K.T. Shivak, performer and puppeteer.
Ragdale is located at 1230 N. Green Bay Road and limited free parking is available on site. Weather permitting, the Performance Finale will take place in the open air Ragdale Ring. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Limited parking is available on site. No pre-registration is required and light refreshments will be provided. In the event of rain, the program will take place inside the Ragdale House and Friends Studio.
