LEAD will be hosting numerous events in celebration of the 29th annual National Red Ribbon Week, taking place October 27-31, 2014. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol and other drug prevention awareness campaign observed annually in the United States. LEAD will kick off Red Ribbon Week with the 7th annual Red Ribbon Race. This 5K Run / 2K Fun Run will take place in downtown Lake Forest on Saturday, October 25. Register for the race at www.leadingefforts.org/rrr. The race will be immediately followed by the first annual ?Taste of Wellness?? a family fun fair featuring more than 20 local community organizations who will exhibit various goods and services related to social, emotional, and physical wellness. The ?Taste of Wellness? will also feature fun activities for the whole family. More information can be found at www.leadingefforts.org/wellness. In addition to the Red Ribbon Race and Taste of Wellness, LEAD will be hosting and facilitating special all-school assemblies in Lake Forest School District 67 and Lake Bluff School Distrcit 65. Local Girl Scouts will be contributing to the Red Ribbon Week efforts by tying red ribbons around the community to help raise awareness of drug and alcohol abuse. Finally, current community drug trends will be the topic of the Red Ribbon Week Community Conversation on October 29th. Parents will also have an opportunity to tour LEAD's new "Hidden In Plain Sight" mock teenage bedroom.
