Description
Axiom Brass Quintet It’s fitting that the Axion Brass Quintet, who appeared in Rendezvous Arts’s first season, returns as we complete our fifth season. Their program “Love, Mystery and Despair” is a passionate affair with the romance, mystery, and intrigue of Latin Music. Highlighting Piazzola’s mastery of tangos, Cacilda Borges Borbosa’s luscious harmonies, and a new bossa-nova-inspired composition from Lillian Yee, Axiom explores the vast wealth of musical idioms from Latin origins. Donna Castellanos We are delighted to showcase artist Donna Castellanos. She received a degree in graphic design from The American Academy of Art in Chicago and worked in advertising for five years. Soon she realized it wasn’t for her, put down the keyboard and picked up a paintbrush! Donna creates in a wide range of mediums, but her true love is creating pieces from found objects she rescues from estate sales and thrift shops. She incorporates these once-loved treasures into her paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and clothing. Donna will bring an interactive art project to the events—audience members will have the opportunity to create! Intrigued? We are! About Rendezvous Arts In the spring of 2020, a group of artists came together to discuss the new reality of performing arts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, we formed Rendezvous Arts—a not-for-profit organization centered on connecting people to the arts in a more visceral, informed experience to enrich the lives of the audience through personal interaction with artists, musicians, and one another. We produce monthly events from September through May in Dixon, Lake Forest, and Chicago, IL. All musicians and artists appearing with Rendezvous Arts are from the Chicago area.
