Description
Santa is coming to Lake Forest early this year and he will be arriving in a horse drawn sleigh on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Mellody Farm Nature Preserve for the annual ?Story Time With Santa? event hosted by the Lake Forest Open Lands Associate Board. Santa and his elf will be on hand to read children of all ages a story, while they take a ride around the prairie, which is only possible during the winter months when the prairie has died back. Snow or shine, Open Land?s new Eldridge Learning Center will be open during the event for children to make a take home craft. Matt Anderson will be on hand to take professional family photos just in time for the holidays. New for this year?s event will be a scavenger hunt featuring winter songbirds. Bent Fork cookies and Caribou hot coco will provide warm treats for the little ones. A reasonable priced raffle with tickets at $10 each or three for $25 gives families who have offered an additional donation at the event in the past, because they have had so much fun a chance to win something, while also giving back to a great cause. Raffle items range from a Patrick Sharp autographed puck to a spa gift set for mom to an arrangement from Lake Forest Flowers courtesy of Eileen Looby Weber. Tickets are $35 per family for members. Non-members receive a discounted membership for 14 months at $100, which includes the event price. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.lfola.org or at the door for $45 per family for members; $110 per family for non-members. The entrance to Mellody Farm Nature Preserve is located at the south west corner of Deerpath and Waukegan.
