Description
The Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart Theatre Department will present its fall play, Oscar Wilde's "Lady Windermere's Fan," three times in the school’s Susan Saint James Performing Arts Center. Curtain time is 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26. “Lady Windermere's Fan” was first performed in 1892 at London’s St. James's Theatre. Since then, this comedy has been adapted numerous times for film, television and as a musical. Wilde's storyline, set in the glittering world of Victorian high society, provides both a humorous and in-depth exploration of love, morality and the price of social reputation. With its sparkling dialogue, complex characters and Wilde's trademark wit that still resonates today, “Lady Windermere's Fan” is a delightful and biting satirical commentary on relationships between men and women, the nature of “high society,” and what it means to hide and discover secrets. Woodlands Academy is an all-girls college-preparatory day-and-boarding high school located at 760 E. Westleigh Road in Lake Forest, IL 60045. Tickets for its fall play are $15 at the door but can be purchased for $10 in advance (up to noon the day of each performance) online at woodlandsacademy.org/fan.
