Courtney Kohn Sanders is the Executive Director of Blue Star Families’ Chicago Chapter, dedicated to empowering military families. She brings extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, program development, and advocacy.
Before joining Blue Star Families, she worked with Illinois Joining Forces, connecting service members to vital resources, and led veteran support efforts at Catholic Charities Diocese of Joliet. Previously, she spent 20+ years in higher education in leadership roles.
A military spouse and mother of four, including twin daughters serving in the Navy, Courtney’s personal experience fuels her passion for supporting military families. She is committed to strengthening partnerships, expanding outreach, and advocating for initiatives that enhance their quality of life.
