Lake Bluff Hystor-cal Trivia Hunt
Lake Bluff History Museum?s Hystori-cal Trivia Hunt is back! This event was a huge hit when we introduced it in 2023. It?s a great way to socialize with friends, learn Lake Bluff history, enjoy a drink or two, exercise your legs and brain, have fun . . . and possibly win a prize! Teams are challenged to use clues provided ? and their imagination ? to answer trivia questions about Lake Bluff?s past. This is an outdoor activity for adults. We suggest a team size of 4 or less. The hunt starts and ends at the museum (127 E. Scranton Avenue in Lake Bluff): begin anytime between 5:00 and 6:30 pm on July 20, 2024. Meet your team and your competition at the Museum, pick up your game packet and review instructions while sipping a welcome drink. Then get started! The hunt covers a small area in east Lake Bluff. Be prepared to walk a little over one mile in search of answers. You?ll conclude the hunt at Lake Bluff Brewing Company where you?ll turn in your answer sheet, get a coupon for a drink and learn if your team was a winner! To purchase tickets, click here.

The Northwestern Medicine returns again with big crowds and tons of fun! Northwestern Medicine is proud to serve as the principal sponsor and title healthcare sponsor for the Lake Bluff Criterium. The local organizing committee is thrilled to bring this premiere event to the community for another year and invite the entire town to join us for family fun and world-class cycling. The Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital team will provide first aid to cyclists as needed. You?ve heard about Prohibition in the U.S. but what about Prohibition in Lake Bluff? The 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution banned the manufacture, transportation and sale of intoxicating liquors nationwide from 1920 to 1933. But that didn?t stop the liquor train throughout the country nor in Lake Bluff. Prohibition caused such a significant influence on society that the effects of this tumultuous 13-year period still reverberate today. At ?Bootleggers, Bandits & Bathtub Gin,? Lake Bluff History Museum co-founder Kathy O?Hara will explain the impact of the 18th Amendment on Lake Bluff and Lake County, utilizing newspaper headlines of the day and stories that have been passed down for generations. What you?ll discover at this presentation: Why was the FBI was searching Lake Bluff for the No. 1 Killer on its Most Wanted List? How did authorities foil a baby kidnapping plot that was modeled after the Lindbergh baby heist? And where were Lake Bluff?s finest during this period? (Hint: the village policeman didn?t have a car; he rode around on a bicycle) You?ll also hear of neighborhood boys who robbed society guests of their money and jewels while dining at fabulous Lake Forest mansions, and of residents who dodged a hail of bullets during a beer truck heist on Greenbay Road and Route 176. Also known as the Lawless Years, Prohibition was a time of great social and economic upheaval, which along with changing morals impacted forever both the nation and our own small piece of it.
