Description
Strange things are happening in Lake Bluff thanks to the Lake Bluff History Museum Ghost Walk, which takes place October 21-22. This year’s Ghost Walk theme, “Upside Down Village,” is a natural fit with what we have been experiencing these past couple of years. Fans of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things will recognize some aspects from the show personalized to Lake Bluff and cleverly woven into Ghost Walk scenes.
Lake Bluff History Museum originated this “spirit-guided” tour in 1997 because, no matter how you look at it, any day above ground is a good one! A popular community event, Ghost Walk resurrects true stories from the darker side of Lake Bluff’s past and retells them with a twist guaranteed to raise both the hair on participants’ necks and their interest in local history. Close to 1,000 brave souls typically venture forth for an evening of fun led by artfully costumed ghoulish guides.
Ghost Walk features a cast of residents, civic leaders, merchants, school and Village personnel. “The partnership between our hardworking Board of Directors and community of volunteers is what makes this show a success. Without their ‘all hands-on-deck’ attitude, it would be impossible to put on a production of this scale,” explained Board President and Ghost Walk Director Cathy McKechney.
Ghost Walk is Lake Bluff History Museum’s signature event and one of the (if not THE) biggest Halloween-themed event around. Tours depart every 15 minutes from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on October 21 and 22 from the Museum at 127 Scranton Avenue.
Tickets cost $25 and are available for purchase online at lakebluffhistory.org. Save the date, as tickets must be purchased for a specific time slot and advance purchase is recommended.
