About Us

The YWCA has a long and proud history in Lake County, Illinois. For the past 99 years, YWCA Lake County (YWCALC) has been at the forefront of civil rights movements and ensuring Lake County’s marginalized residents have access to vital services, programs, and opportunities.
The YWCALC is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We are part of a national organization that has been at the forefront of the biggest issues of the day for over 160 years. Our vision is to be a driving force for change resulting in generations of self-sufficient women and a world free of racism.
We served over 33,000 community members last year.
